SANTIAGO, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Traffic in Chile's capital Santiago and the metropolitan area increased 7.7 percent last week as residents and businesses gradually emerged from the pandemic lockdown, the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications said on Monday.
"The conduct of mobility in Santiago is directly related to the beginning of the phases of deconfinement. The fewer communes (boroughs) are in lockdown, the greater the use of public transit and the circulation of vehicles," Transport and Telecommunications Minister Gloria Hutt said.
