LONDON, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 2.39 percent, or 138.32 points, to close at 5,937.40 points.
Melrose Industries, a London-based company that specializes in buying and improving underperforming businesses, soared 5.84 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust and Ashtead Group increased by 5.48 percent and 5.15 percent, respectively.
