Ecuador's COVID-19 cases rise to 107,769, death toll reaches 6,310

QUITO, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador on Sunday reported 680 new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection and 33 more deaths from the disease in the previous 24 hours, raising the total caseload to 107,769 and the death toll to 6,310.

The Ministry of Public Health said infections were still on the rise in the north-central province of Pichincha, the current epicenter of the national outbreak, which has 22,388 infections and 884 deaths.
