Egypt's unemployment rate up to 9.6 pct in Q2 over COVID-19

CAIRO, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's unemployment rate rose to 9.6 percent in the second quarter of 2020 from 7.7 percent in the previous quarter of the year due to the coronavirus outbreak, the state-run statistics agency said on Monday.

"The unemployment rate is up by 2.1 percent compared with the same quarter in 2019," the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said.
