MANILA, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte approved on Sunday night the recommendation of his Cabinet to impose stricter lockdown rules in Metro Manila and the neighboring provinces following the surge of COVID-19 cases in the last four days, his spokesperson Harry Roque said.
The lockdown will start midnight of Aug. 4 and last until Aug. 18.
