Spotlight: Postponement of LegCo election supported by various sectors in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Various sectors in Hong Kong have expressed support for the postponement of the election of the Legislative Council (LegCo) for a year due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam on Friday announced the decision to delay the 2020 Legislative Council (LegCo) General Election of the HKSAR due in early September, calling it necessary to curb the epidemic development, protect public security and health, and ensure the openness and fairness of the election.
