LONDON, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Plastic carrier bag sales have dropped by more than 95 percent in England's main supermarkets since a 5 pence (about 0.07 U.S. dollar) charge was introduced in 2015, official figures revealed Thursday.
The average person in England now buys just four bags a year from the main supermarket retailers, compared with 10 last year and 140 in 2014, said the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
