QINGDAO, China, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Defending champions Guangdong Southeast Tigers broke the record for the longest winning streak in a single CBA season, while the Fujian Sturgeons edged the Xinjiang Flying Tigers to qualify for the playoffs on Monday.
Yi Jianlian, who scored seven points in the last two minutes, finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead Guangdong to their 27th successive victory by overturning the Zhejiang Golden Bulls 107-98.
Guangdong fell behind by eight points heading into the fourth but fired a 14-4 run to take a 88-86 lead. Wu Qian's three-pointer helped Zhejiang tied the game with two minutes left before Yi showed his domination to keep Guangdong at bay.
Zhou Peng and Zhao Rui had 21 and 20 points for Guangdong. Zhejiang's Wu Qian and Cheng Shuaipeng each got 18 points.
With the victory against Xinjiang, Fujian booked the playoff berth as the last team of 12.
After a sluggish start, Fujian came back from a 13-point first-quarter deficit to build a 76-71 lead after three quarters. Huang Yichao hit a three-pointer to extend Fujian's advantage to nine points but Xinjiang responded with a 15-3 run to regain the lead.
Wang Zhelin buried a buzzer-beater three-pointer for Fujian when the two sides tied the game 101-101 with one minute remaining before Huang put the game away with a jumper.
Chen Linjian finished with a game-high 32 points for Fujian, Ty Lawson had 27 points, and Wang had 21 points and 16 rebounds. Zhou Qi collected 22 points and 26 rebounds as Xinjiang had five players scored in double figures.
Shanxi Loongs snapped a five-game losing streak with a 90-79 victory against the Qingdao Eagles while the Sichuan Blue Whales suffered their ninth defeat in a row after losing to the Beijing Ducks 84-73.
Jiangsu Dragons upset the Shandong Heroes 101-92.
