Canada ramps up battle against virus, slashes rates and promises stimulus

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada on Friday dramatically ramped up its measures to combat the spread of the new coronavirus and offset its economic impact, including a surprise half-point interest rate cut and the promise of a significant financial aid package.

Canada is advising citizens against non-essential foreign travel, and is funnelling international flights into a few select airports.
