WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Seven candidates remained in the U.S. Democratic presidential nominating contest after the first four states voted in the state-by-state selection process.
What was once a field of more than 20 has been whittled down to seven, after businessman Tom Steyer became the latest to end his bid after finishing third in South Carolina, the fourth state to vote. The race now heads to Super Tuesday, when voters in 14 states will head to the polls and present a test for the remaining candidates.
