BERLIN (Reuters) - The German cabinet on Wednesday approved measures to drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions, paving the way for Chancellor Angela Merkel to pass landmark climate legislation this year.
Climate activists and industry groups immediately criticised the plans as too weak to achieve Germany's goal of becoming emissions-neutral by 2050.
