COLUMBIA, S.C. (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Kamala Harris says every time she became the first woman elected to an office in California, she was asked how it felt to be a "first" in the position and prompted to talk about women's issues.

"I'd look at them and say I'm so glad you want to talk about the economy. Other times? I'm so glad you want to talk about national security. The climate crisis. Immigration. Criminal justice reform. And we could go on and on," Harris told women at a recent presidential campaign event in South Carolina.
