SACRAMENTO/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican state senators in California gathered in Sacramento late last month for what amounted to an intervention.
A leading Washington, D.C. polling firm warned the legislators in no uncertain terms that intense Democratic antipathy towards President Donald Trump could spur those voters to turn out in record numbers, jeopardizing safe Republican districts and potentially costing the party control of Congress.
