PARIS (Reuters) - Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy should face trial over alleged funding irregularities in his failed 2012 re-election campaign, the Paris state prosecutor has recommended, according to a judicial source.

If the investigating magistrate in charge of the case agrees with the prosecutor's view, a trial could complicate Sarkozy's bid for re-election in next year's presidential contest.
