IN 2013, the state of Texas enacted one of the most draconian anti-abortion rights statutes in the United States.
The law, called House Bill 2 (HB2), was immediately challenged in court by clinics, whose lawyers argued that it would severely restrict abortion access in the state. If it ever enters into force, HB2 would leave open as few as seven abortion clinics for 14 million Texas women.
