BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's military-dominated legislature gave itself the power to impeach political office holders on Thursday, edging a step closer to rooting out the influence of controversial former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
The army seized power on May 22 in a bid to restore order and kick-start Southeast Asia's second-largest economy after months of political infighting that killed nearly 30 people.
