(Reuters) - U.S. warplanes pounded Islamic State fighters in Syria and Iraq for a second day on Wednesday as President Barack Obama tried to rally support for the coalition fighting the extremist group during an address to the U.N. General Assembly in New York.
U.S. Central Command said Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar had participated in or supported strikes against Islamic State targets during the opening day of the campaign on Tuesday.
