SOCHI, Russia (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday described state inspections at the offices of non-governmental organisations, which have drawn criticism from the West, as routine but said authorities should not be overzealous.
"These are routine measures, linked to the desire of the law enforcement agencies to bring the activities of organisations in line with the law," Putin said at a meeting with Russia's human rights' ombudsman, who raised concern over the checks.
