AMMAN (Reuters) - Syrian tanks shelled an opposition district in Homs on Wednesday and at least five people were killed, a rights campaigner said in a city that has become the most populous centre of revolt against autocratic Baathist rule.
The National Hospital in Homs received five bodies after tanks fired into the residential Bab al-Amro district early in the morning, Najati Tayara told Reuters from Homs, in central Syria and the country's third largest city.
