WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Interior Department on Tuesday confirmed that less than one-third of a barrel of oil per day has been leaking from Taylor Energy-owned wells in Gulf of Mexico since they were destroyed in a mudslide caused by Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
Various media reports earlier on Tuesday had been speculating about the possibility of a second oil leak in the Gulf, as the government attempts to clean up the massive spill caused by the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion.
