WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama, welcoming a new Senate proposal, said on Wednesday he was "deeply committed" to passing a new energy law that would set caps on greenhouse gas emissions.
"With the draft legislation they are announcing today, we are one step closer to putting America in control of our energy future and making America more energy independent," Obama said in a statement, referring to a bill introduced by Senators John Kerry and Barbara Boxer.
