TOKYO (Reuters) - Speculation is swirling over whether unpopular Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso will call an election, due by October, that his party looks likely to lose, as well as whether his party will dump him ahead of the poll.
Media surveys show the main opposition Democratic Party is more popular than Aso's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) ahead of the election. That raises the prospect the business-friendly LDP could find itself out of power after more than half a century of almost unbroken rule.
