ST. LOUIS (Reuters) - The White House race turned back to the ailing economy on Friday, with Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain praising the vote in Congress to pass a Wall Street bailout but pushing for further action.
After the House of Representatives gave final approval to the $700 billion bailout of U.S. financial institutions, Obama urged the Bush administration and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to use their authority wisely to protect taxpayers.
