XIAMEN, China (Reuters) - Just over a decade ago, China lobbed missiles into waters near Taiwan in an attempt to influence the island's presidential election. Troops were mobilised and fighter jets readied.
But as Taiwan gears up for parliamentary elections on Saturday and presidential polls in March, China's front line with long-time enemy Taiwan appears to be breathing a lot easier.
