UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - U.N. special envoy Ibrahim Gambari gave a largely positive report on Tuesday of his recent trip to Myanmar but Western ambassadors expressed doubts about the junta's sincerity in cooperating with him.
Gambari told the U.N. Security Council the situation was "qualitatively different" from a few weeks ago and he believed the government could be responsive to international pressure over its crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators.
