YANGON (Reuters) - Myanmar's military junta imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Yangon and the second city of Mandalay on Wednesday to try to halt the largest anti-government demonstrations in nearly 20 years, witnesses said.
Loudspeaker announcements in the former capital Yangon said the curfew would run from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. local time. They also said that the city was now under direct control of Yangon's military commander for 60 days.
