BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki ordered all checkpoints in Baghdad's Shi'ite stronghold of Sadr City and other parts of the capital to be lifted on Tuesday to allow traffic to flow.
Iraqi and U.S. troops have for the past week been manning checkpoints and mounting raids in Sadr City, a bastion of the Mehdi Army militia of radical Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, in a hunt for a U.S. soldier of Iraqi origin abducted in central Baghdad last week.
