DHAKA (Reuters) - Bangladesh President Iajuddin Ahmed must prove himself to be neutral before he can be accepted as the head of a caretaker government to steer the country through elections in January, opposition parties said on Monday.
Iajuddin, who has a largely ceremonial role as president, took additional charge as chief adviser of the caretaker authority on Sunday after at least 25 people were killed and hundreds wounded in rioting by political activists.
