BILOXI, Miss., (Reuters) - The White House said on Thursday that Gen. Michael Hayden's nomination to be CIA director was going "full steam ahead" despite a USA Today report that the agency he headed, the National Security Agency, has collected tens of millions of American phone records.
White House spokeswoman Dana Perino, traveling with President George W. Bush to Mississippi, told reporters: "I think General Hayden has had a really good start to his confirmation process. He's met with several members, the feedback is positive and we're full steam ahead on his nomination."
