CAIRO (Reuters) - Rescue teams have saved 290 survivors from among the nearly 1,400 passengers and crew aboard an Egyptian ferry which sank in the Red Sea overnight, a senior executive of the shipping company said on Friday.
Mamdouh Radi, who runs the fleet for el-Salam Maritime Transport Company, told Reuters the 290 people were on their way to the port of Safaga or had already arrived.
