NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York transit officials and union leaders met for several hours on Saturday but a union official said they made no progress toward a contract deal to avert a potentially crippling strike of the city's subway and bus system.
It was not clear when talks would resume. "We're available any time," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman Tom Kelly characterised the break in talks as a recess.
