GENEVA (Reuters) - The United Nations refugee agency on Friday warned that the European Union's new directive on asylum could lead to breaches of international refugee law and urged member states to protect the rights of asylum-seekers.
The directive, adopted in Brussels on Thursday without debate, contains "serious deficiencies", according to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
