JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's sacked deputy president Jacob Zuma confirmed on Tuesday he was facing rape allegations that are fuelling turmoil in the ruling party and could wreck what remains of his battered political career.
The allegations, first published in newspapers earlier this month and denied by Zuma, laid bare divisions in the African National Congress (ANC) and intensified debate on who will succeed President Thabo Mbeki and when.
