SINGAPORE/CANBERRA (Reuters) - Singapore on Thursday defended its decision to execute a young Australian drug trafficker, rebuffing last-ditch pleas for clemency and saying the sentence was a strong message to would-be drug dealers.
"Our strict anti-drugs laws send a clear message to drug syndicates not to conduct their criminal activities in Singapore or through Singapore," Singapore High Commissioner to Australia Joseph Koh said in a statement.
