BAGHDAD (Reuters) - An Iraqi court has sentenced a nephew of toppled president Saddam Hussein to life in prison on charges of financing insurgents and possession of bombs, a government statement said on Monday.

The statement said that Ayman Sabawi, son of Saddam's half brother, Sabawi Ibrahim al-Tikriti, who was also a senior member of the ousted regime, faces another hearing and possibly an even stiffer sentence over new charges that emerged during his trial.
