TOKYO (Reuters) - Nicknamed "Lion King" when he swept to power four years ago, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi could become Japan's new kingmaker if he steps down as planned next year despite a stunning election victory by his party.
Replacing Koizumi will be a tough task, given the telegenic veteran's aptitude for snappy slogans and a seemingly unerring instinct for reading public opinion -- talents little needed during most of his Liberal Democratic Party's 50-year history.
