WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Wild ducks, especially mallards, carry more than a half-dozen different types of avian flu virus and could be used to track and predict outbreaks, Dutch and Swedish researchers said on Monday.
Flu strains taken from the birds might also be used to make up a stockpile of potential vaccines against outbreaks in both animals and people, the researchers said.
