KFAR DAROM, Gaza Strip (Reuters) - Thousands of Israeli troops surrounded settlers and ultranationalist supporters barricaded inside synagogues on Thursday in two key bastions of resistance to Israel's Gaza withdrawal.
Resolving the twin standoffs could break the back of on-the-ground opposition to Israel's forced evacuation of its Gaza settlements, the beginning of the end of a 38-year occupation of the coastal territory.
