KABUL (Reuters) - Afghan and U.S. forces wound up a big anti-Taliban operation in southwest Afghanistan on Friday after killing at least 109 guerrillas but failing to find top commanders thought to have been hiding there, officials said.
The Defence Ministry said on Thursday Mullah Dadullah and Mullah Brother, members of the Taliban leadership council led by elusive Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar, were surrounded by Afghan and U.S. forces in the Dai Chopan area of Zabul province.
