HONG KONG (Reuters) - Popular civil service veteran Donald Tsang has won enough support from a China-appointed committee to become Hong Kong's next leader with the daunting task of balancing the demands of Beijing with calls for democracy.
The post of chief executive of one of the world's leading financial centres and most glamorous cities came up when the unpopular Tung Chee-hwa, anointed chief executive at the end of British rule in 1997, resigned in March, citing poor health.
