Police have launched an investigation following a viral video showing a man slapping another individual, believed to be a foreign national, at an animal care centre in Bandar Indahpura. Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee confirmed that the video was uploaded by the account @Update11111 on X (formerly Twitter).

A police report was filed by a senior officer regarding the incident, prompting the opening of an investigation under Sections 506 and 323 of the Penal Code.

Initial findings suggest that the man who was slapped is believed to be an Indian national, while the assailant is a local.

Section 506 of the Penal Code addresses criminal intimidation, which can result in up to two years in prison, a fine, or both upon conviction.

Section 323 deals with voluntarily causing hurt, carrying a penalty of up to one year in prison, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.

Police are actively working to trace the suspect and identify witnesses present during the incident.

"We urge the public not to take matters into their own hands. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward to assist with the investigation," ACP Tan advised.

Efforts are also underway to identify the owner of the premises where the incident occurred.

The two-minute and 15-second video, which was posted on social media, shows a man in a white shirt slapping another man for allegedly stealing money from a shop.
