A man dressed as a 'mummy' was seen walking along Jalan Panchang Bedena to the town of Sungai Besar in Shah Alam, Selangor, causing a stir on social media after going viral on Monday (Jan 20).
Sabak Bernam OCPD Supt Robin Guha Thakurta, stated that they received information about the incident around 10am.
The police subsequently detained the 25-year-old man in the vicinity of Parit 6, Sungai Besar.
"Further investigations revealed that the individual is experiencing mental health disturbances," he said in a statement on Monday.
Supt Robin reported that the police then took the man to Sabak Bernam Hospital for further treatment, accompanied by his relatives.
He advised the public to contact the police to provide information on any incident that causes concern and threatens public peace.
Earlier, it was reported that the residents of Sungai Besar were startled by the sight of a 'mummy' wrapped in white cloth wandering the streets, raising questions among road users.
A TikTok post showed the fully bandaged man, including his head, crossing a main road, eliciting various reactions from the public.
