QuickCheck: Is an underwear-sniffing pervert on the prowl in Penang?


A ONE-minute video has gone viral of a man stealing a woman's brassiere from a clothesline in an apartment and then sniffing it while masturbating.

Is this incident current and did it really happen in Penang?

George Town OCPD Supt Lee Swee Sake confirmed the incident and said that police had received a report from a 31-year-old woman at 1.11pm on Sunday (Oct 20).

He said police are currently on the hunt for the suspect in the incident which happened at an apartment unit in Taman Bukit Erskine in Penang.

"The police received a report from the woman about the incident, which was recorded on the victim's CCTV.

"She became aware of the incident after receiving a notification from the CCTV app and noticed the suspect's act at her front grille at around 6.40am," he said.

Supt Lee said further investigations are ongoing, including efforts to track down the man.

He said police are seeking the cooperation of anyone with information on the suspect to come forward and assist in investigations.

Earlier, a one-minute and one-second video had also gone viral on social media. The video showed the suspect taking a bra from a clothesline inside the grille of the house, and then sniffing it while masturbating.

The suspect also wiped his genitals on the undergarment before placing it back on the clothesline and fleeing.

The suspect's actions have been condemned online, with many calling for the police to conduct an investigation and arrest him quickly due to concerns about possible further incidents.
