As such, any news or footage of such an incident is likely to go viral very quickly - such as what was said to have happened at a convenience store in Sungai Buloh, Selangor, as CCTV footage of the incident and the claim that it happened there have since gone viral.

Are these claims true?

VERDICT:

TRUE.

In a statement released on Facebook, Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said that a report had been received on Monday (Oct 7) from an 18-year-old woman.

He said that the complainant had reported being approached by an unknown man, who sat at a table across from them.

"The suspect then unzipped his pants and exposed himself, performing indecent actions in front of the complainant and her friends. Following this incident, the complainant and her friends immediately left the premises," said Supt Mohd Hafiz.

"An investigation paper has been opened under Section 509 of the Penal Code for uttering words or gestures intended to insult the modesty of a person," he added.

Supt Mohd Hafiz then said that if convicted, the offender could face imprisonment for a term that may extend up to five years, a fine or both.

"Anyone who has any information regarding this incident can come forward to any nearby police station or contact assistant investigating officer Sgt Darul Salam Mohamed at 013-4519575 to assist with the investigation," he added.
