IT is always shocking when firearms are used in crimes in this country, and as such any claim that shots were fired in a public place will go viral regardless of whether the news is true or not.

Recently, a message went viral containing a claim that there was a shooting at a Taiping petrol station. Is this true?

The message circulating on social media that a shooting took place at a Taiping petrol station is false, says Perak police chief Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris

In a brief message, he said that there was no such incident and that the message that had gone viral was fake.

The message read, "Pump attendant shot dead Taiping shell Station. As was told, the gunman snatched the pouch bag".
