THE power of social media can often turn fiction into perceived reality in the blink of an eye.

A video spreads like wildfire across Facebook, depicting a man, a gun, and a high-speed drive through the streets of Pantai Batu Buruk.

But did this footage actually capture the harrowing case of a child kidnapped under the threat of a gun?

Verdict:

FALSE

Kuala Terengganu OCPD Asst Comm Azli Mohd Noor confirmed that police received two reports on the 38-second clip.

"However, it is not a kidnapping case,” he said when contacted by Bernama on Thursday (June 13) night.

The video, which has been widely shared on Facebook, shows the individual with a black object, presumed to be a firearm, while dangerously manoeuvring a white sedan.

In the video, the driver is seen crossing into oncoming traffic by breaching the road median, prompting concern among social media users.

Additionally, there were claims made in the video's caption that a security guard at a local school was threatened with a gun pointed at his stomach by the driver, who was allegedly fleeing with a child.
