IT'S a fact of life that accidents happen. Whether it's due to human error or just a twist of fate, these unwanted occurrences are something we have to contend with.
So is it true that a car without a driver collided with two motorbikes recently?
Verdict
TRUE
According to Kajang police chief ACP Mohd Zaid Hassan, two motorcyclists collided with a car without a driver that rolled onto the Kajang Traffic Dispersal Ring Road (SILK) in Balakong – because the driver forgot to engage the vehicle's handbrake.
A 51-second viral video shows a white car moving backwards onto an expressway with the door on the driver's side open.
ACP Mohd Zaid said the incident happened at 8.20am on Friday (June 7) when the 34-year-old driver took his vehicle to a service centre.
"The car rolled onto the main road and two motorcycles hit the left side of the car," he said.
He added that both motorcyclists were injured and a police report was filed by a 31-year-old woman.
Drivers are cautioned to exercise care and diligence when operating their vehicles to prevent endangering fellow road users, Mohd Zaid said.
He added that an investigation would be carried out in accordance with Rule 14 LN166/59 of the Road Traffic Rules for failing to turn off the vehicle engine or engage the brakes upon exit.
