QuickCheck: Was a man electrocuted near a Selangor food stall recently?


IT is always shocking to hear that someone has been electrocuted, and if the mishap happened in a public place it tends to draw the attention of the public.

Recently,it was claimed that a man died in Selayang after receiving an electric shock while walking to a food stall.

Is this true?

VERDICT:

TRUE

The death of the 20-year-old man was confirmed by Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir, who said in a press release on Monday (May 27) that the incident happened at a Dataran Templer, Bandar Baru Selayang food court.

He said that the man was electrocuted when he came into contact with a metal road divider while heading to the stall where he worked, and added that the man's 24-year-old friend received an electric shock when he came to help.

"A 25-year-old man came to help both his friends and was then able to push both of them away and then fell into a drain," added ACP Noor Ariffin.

ACP Noor Ariffin then said that the victims were brought to a clinic and then to Selayang Hospital, where the 20-year-old was declared dead.

"The case is being investigated as a sudden death, and anyone with information is encouraged to come forward. They can do so by calling Insp Mohd Ridzuan Alang at 019-449 2685 or the Gombak IPD Operations Room at 03 6216-2222," he added.
