While most of us get our Internet from modems or WiFi adaptors, is it true that there’s a statue in the United States that provides free WiFi?

Yes, the Nikola Tesla statue, located in the heart of Silicon Valley - a technology hub - emits WiFi signals for visitors for free! It is said that the signal radiates from the “lightbulb” in Tesla’s hand!

Unveiled in 2013, the almost 190 cm tall monument was the brainchild of renowned artist Terry Guyer - supported by a team of 722 people. The statue was aimed to commemorate the inventor’s great visionary on wireless transmission via electricity.

Croatian-born Nikola Tesla was an electrical engineer, whose legacy spanned generations and has significantly influenced today’s society.

Apart from being a “WiFi spot”, a time capsule was installed at the base of the statue. However, it will only be opened on the 100th anniversary of Tesla’s passing in 2043.

If you don’t already know, the world’s most-coveted electric car, Tesla, was named after the great inventor!
