IT'S NORMAL to take a wrong turn once in a while, but one driver in Kuala Kurau in Kerian, Perak apparently took it to the extreme.

He allegedly tried to drive his car over a bridge meant for motorcycles.

Not only did he manage to get his vehicle stuck on the narrow bridge, he even picked a fight with police who arrived on the scene.

Is this true?

A man reportedly high on drugs was arrested after getting his car stuck on a bridge meant for motorcycles in Kuala Kurau, said Kerian OCPD Supt Juna Yusoff.

He added that the self-employed man, who was in his early 50s, also got into a scuffle with police while trying to evade arrest.

"We received information about the car on Thursday (April 18) at about 8.45am.

"A team of policemen was then dispatched to the location and found the man shouting at (passers-by)," he said in a statement.

"We tried to calm the situation and get the man's information but he refused to cooperate.

"He then got into a fracas with the policemen and was apprehended," he added.

Supt Juna said the team found a plastic packet believed to contain drugs on the man.

"He was taken back to the Kuala Kurau police station before being sent to the Kerian police headquarters narcotics unit.

"He tested positive for methamphetamine.

"We urge people not to speculate on the case which can cause misunderstanding.

"Those with information should contact the nearest police station or Kerian district police station operations centre at 05-721 2222," he added.
